Happy to serve you, Yes! -- that's what we usually hear and see when we do groceries in SM.
And just like the sales ladies, guards and all the staff of SM Malls, We, Christians should also be like that...
According to Ephesians 2:10, "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Meaning, even before we became Christian, or even before tayo pinanganak, may purpose na si Lord sa atin and that is TO DO GOOD WORKS.
But how? Personally, I struggle alot with this. I have a passion to serve, to speak, to go on a ministry but often times nauunahan ako ng fear. Natatakot ako. I feel like baka instead of being a blessing e mag-cause pa ko ng pagka-stumble ng ibang tao. I am by nature a sinner, I don't have a good past, I make mistakes a lot and my past isn't something that I can brag about.
But today, as I read my devotion, God rebuked me. He gave me this:
"Abraham was old, Jacob was insecure, Leah was unattractive, Joseph was abused, Moses stuttered, Gideon was poor, Samson was co-dependent, Rahab was immoral, David had an affair and all kinds of family problems, Elijah was suicidal, Jeremiah was depressed, Jonah was reluctant, Naomi was a widow, John the Baptist was ecentric to say the least, Peter was impulsive and hot-tempered, Martha worried a lot, the Samaritab woman had several failed marriages, Zacchaeus was unpopular, Thomas had doubts, Paul had poor health, and Timothy was timid. That is quite a variety of misfits, but God used each of them in his service. He will use you, too, if you stop making excuses. "
So then, I asked myself, "Am I just making excuses?" Napakamot na lang ako ng ulo at napangiti.
Oo nga naman, Lahat naman ng tao makasalanan. Hindi naman porket Christian e hindi na nagkakamali. No one is perfect except Christ. And given that, may excuse pa ba ko, ikaw, tayo, not to serve?
According to Rick Warren, If you have no love for others, no desire to serve others, and you're only concern is your needs, you should question whether Christ is really in your life because A SAVED HEART IS ONE THAT WANTS TO SERVE! He also said, "We are healed to help others. We are blessed to be a blessing. We are saved to serve, not to sit around and wait for heaven."
If you aren't serving, you're just existing, because life is meant for ministry, God wants us to learn to love and serve others unselfishly, just like what Jesus did. It is through ministry that we discover the meaning of our lives. God wants to use you to make a difference in his world. He wants to work through you, through us.
What matters is not the duration of our lives, but the donation of it. Not how long we lived, but how we lived.
Now, my brothers and sisters in Christ, lets make the best out of our lives and lets make a banner that says "Happy to serve you, YES!"
